U20 Vietnam lost 1-4 to U20 Argentina
The team that won the U20 FIFA World Cup six times played completely better and won convincingly in the friendly match at Thong Nhat Stadium on the evening of May 10.
At Thong Nhat Stadium, U20 Argentina showed superiority over the home team. Coach Claudio Ubeda's team completely controlled the game, controlled the tempo, attacked in a variety of ways and scored goals from all positions.
However, U20 Vietnam has left quite a few marks in the fierce battle with the team that has won the U20 FIFA World Cup six times. That is the foundation of good physical strength and a fighting spirit that never gives up. In particular, Duc Chinh's goal in the 90th minute somewhat ignited the confidence of coach Hoang Anh Tuan's team before leaving for Korea to participate in the U20 FIFA World Cup for the first time.

The hot weather in Ho Chi Minh City was not enough to make it difficult for the U20 Argentina players. Right after the opening whistle, coach Claudio Ubeda's team almost only played on the U23 Vietnam half of the field. Torres, a player currently playing for Boca Junior, was the most outstanding player in the U20 Argentina squad, constantly penetrating the home team's defense.
Torres could not beat Tien Dung in a one-on-one situation in the 20th minute and six minutes later his shot hit the crossbar. However, the number seven of Argentina U20 was not in a hurry to find a goal. In the 29th minute, in a favorable situation, he could have kicked but Torres decided to pass the ball sideways for Ponce to tap the ball into the almost empty net to open the score.
After conceding the goal, coach Hoang Anh Tuan sent Duc Chinh onto the field. The presence of the striker who is currently playing for Da Nang in the V-League helped the U20 Vietnam team play better, starting to organize attacks to threaten the opponent. However, when the attackers could not find a way into the U20 Argentina goal, the defense continued to make mistakes.
In the 47th minute, the U20 Vietnam defenders left Mansilla unmarked, allowing him to freely run down to receive a cross from his teammate, heading the ball so that goalkeeper Sy Huy had to go into the net to pick it up after less than two minutes on the field. In the 63rd minute, nine U20 Vietnam players were in the penalty area but could not stop four U20 Argentina players from combining to score. The scorer was Iglacio with a header into an empty net after Sy Huy failed to catch the ball.

Leading by three goals, U20 Argentina proactively slowed down the match to save energy and avoid injuries. However, the team from South America still scored another goal. In the 86th minute, Tan Sinh stretched out to block Foyth's dribble, but Iglacio immediately ran down to retrieve the ball and finished, raising the score to 4-0.
In the final minutes of the match, U20 Vietnam tried their best to attack and they were rewarded with an honorary goal scored in the last official minute of the match. The U20 Argentina defender was afraid of making a foul, creating an opportunity for Duc Chinh to escape and receive a pass from Tran Thanh, finishing by hitting the post and bouncing into the net.
Tomorrow (May 11), U20 Vietnam will travel to South Korea. The team will have another friendly match with U20 Vanuatu on May 14. At the U20 FIFA World Cup, coach Hoang Anh Tuan and his team are in group E, and will meet New Zealand (May 22), France (May 25) and Honduras (May 28).
