U23 Vietnam says goodbye to Tuan Linh, Phi Minh Long is on 'waiting list'
After 4 days of training, Coach Park Hang Seo was forced to say goodbye to the first players of U23 Vietnam. Striker Tien Linh and goalkeeper Phi Minh Long are the players who will no longer have the opportunity to wear the national team jersey due to injury.
During the training session on the afternoon of December 2, Tien Linh suffered a serious injury after a dispute with his teammate. The B.Binh Duong club striker was diagnosed with a sprained ankle. With this injury, the new U23 Vietnam player will have to rest for about 2 weeks, meaning he will not be able to attend the M-150 tournament in Thailand on December 9.

After consulting with doctors, Coach Park Hang Seo decided to say goodbye to the striker of B.Binh Duong team. Tien Linh was very sad, he shared that he was “unlucky, but if he is lucky, forget it…”.
After Tien Linh, another name that also had to say goodbye to the U23 Vietnam team was goalkeeper Phi Minh Long. Minh Long was injured and had to practice separately from the first day of training. Coach Park Hang Seo called goalkeeper Nguyen Van Hoang (Sai Gon FC) up to replace him.
Van Hoang was the reserve goalkeeper for Tong Duc An in V-League 2017 and did not play much. It is known that Phi Minh Long will still be kept to treat his injury, while striker Tien Linh has returned to the club.
Coach Park Hang Seo has 35 players, but currently, 8 names are still having to practice separately, including midfielder Nguyen Tuan Anh, center back Bui Tien Dung, Dong Trieu, Duc Chinh, Huu Dung, Thanh Thinh, Tien Linh and goalkeeper Minh Long. In this morning's practice session, most of them participated in physical exercises with their teammates but were asked not to perform strong movements.
After the training session on the afternoon of December 3, midfielder Duc Huy shared: "This is the first time so many people have gathered, especially the largest number of midfielders, so everyone must try to get a spot to attend the 2018 AFC U23 Championship."
Besides, the midfielder born in 1995 also highly appreciated the level of his juniors in the team. He admitted that he was only slightly better than the younger members in terms of experience.
This is the last time we have given the Vietnam U23 team. We are just a little bit more experienced in international competition because we participated in the 2016 AFC U23 Championship. However, the younger kids also competed in the 2017 FIFA U20 World Cup, so there is only a little difference in experience.”
