(Baonghean.vn) - Facing an opponent with a superior level, U23 Vietnam could not create a surprise when they lost to U23 Uzbekistan with a score of 3-0.

On the evening of April 23 local time, the Vietnam U23 team faced off against Uzbekistan U23 in the final match of Group D of the 2024 AFC U23 Championship.

Winning the ticket to the next round early has helped coach Hoang Anh Tuan have more favorable conditions for personnel calculations, to ensure the best lineup for the quarter-final match, so the main lineup is mostly players who have not played in the previous two matches.

On the other side of the front line, U23 Uzbekistan also entered the field with a squad that was not the strongest, but they still showed their superior strength. In the 3rd minute of the match, U23 Uzbekistan players "tore apart" the U23 Vietnam defense. From a cross from his teammate, player Alisher Odilov easily finished to open the score.

Conceding an early goal, U23 Vietnam continued to concede the game to their opponents and did not focus too much on pushing up their formation to put pressure on the U23 Uzbekistan field. Coach Hoang Anh Tuan's players played a tight defense and counterattacked quickly, which also created some breakthrough opportunities.

In the 20th minute, Minh Quang fought and stole the ball from the U23 Uzbekistan defender, he decided to dribble into the penalty area and then curled the ball into the far corner. Unfortunately, the ball went across the goal of the Central Asian team.

While they were unable to find an equalizer, U23 continued to concede a second goal. From a delicate pass from his teammate, Jiyanov broke the offside trap and ran down before finishing with a powerful diagonal shot, raising the score to 2-0.

Not stopping there, from a well-coordinated move by U23 Uzbekistan, the ball was crossed into the penalty area for Alisher Odilov to head the ball into the low corner, leaving goalkeeper Van Viet unable to block it.

Within just 4 minutes, U23 Vietnam conceded two goals, the first half ended with a temporary score of 3-0 in favor of U23 Uzbekistan.

In the second half, coach Hoang Anh Tuan decided to send 4 players including Vi Hao, Van Truong, Minh Khoa to replace Nguyen Hoang, Duc Viet and Minh Quang.

However, U23 Uzbekistan was still the one who actively controlled the ball and put pressure on U23 Vietnam's field. In the end, U23 Vietnam lost to U23 Uzbekistan with a score of 0-3.

This result helped Uzbekistan U23 finish the group stage as the top team in Group D after 3 wins. The Central Asian representative will recreate the 2022 AFC U23 Championship final when they face the reigning champions Saudi Arabia U23 in the quarterfinals.

Meanwhile, for U23 Vietnam, the opponent of the "Golden Star Warriors" in the quarter-finals is U23 Iraq, the team that lost to us in the penalty shootout in the quarter-finals of the 2018 U23 Asia.

The quarter-final match between U23 Vietnam and U23 Iraq will take place at 0:30 on April 27./.
