According to AMN on January 28, the Russian Air Force has successfully tested weapons on Karnivora - a light UAV line specializing in interception missions.

During the test, the light unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) successfully fired and intercepted the simulated target, which was another UAV. However, the source did not disclose the type of ammunition used by Karnivora.

Speaking about the capabilities of Karnivora, the manufacturer Mikran Company revealed: "This is a light attack aircraft that can take off from any terrain and patrol for 10-15 hours, as well as deal with threats, such as mortar firing points."

To destroy other UAVs, the Karnivora is designed to be able to use nets, or be equipped with a variety of fragmentation cassette bombs and high-explosive munitions, and can also carry reconnaissance equipment.

What is special is that before Russia announced the successful test of Karnivora, Western intelligence discovered that this type of UAV had been secretly brought by Russia to the Hmeymim base. However, it is not clear whether they have carried out any interceptions in Syria.

It is known that right before this light UAV was first tested, Russia began testing Okhotnik - a UAV line designed specifically to attack enemy air defense positions.

The first ground tests were carried out on November 23 at the runway of the Novosibirsk Aviation Plant when the UAV was able to run at speeds of up to 200km/h.

The Okhotnik drone performs all operations completely autonomously: autonomously moves to the take-off position, runs, accelerates and stops at the end of the runway. According to the test plan, by the end of the year, the heavy drone will perform several runs on the runway without taking off.

The next phase of testing will see the heavy attack UAV take off a few meters into the air and land immediately. After these successful takeoff tests, the first flight will be carried out.

Based on the limited information disclosed by the Novosibirsk manufacturer, Okhotnik is designed in the "flying wing" style using stealth technology. This UAV has three wheeled landing gears, a jet engine, and weighs about 20 tons.

Meanwhile, according to Denis Fetudinov, Editor-in-Chief of Aviation: The attack targets of the Okhotnik UAV are enemy air defense systems, command posts and communication centers.

These targets are often heavily defended by air defense systems, posing a danger to manned aircraft. With this design in mind, once testing is completed and the Russian Air Force enters service, it will have a pair of UAVs capable of threatening many enemy targets.
