The People's Committee of Hung Nguyen District responds to the issue raised in the newspaper report.
(Baonghean) - The Nghe An Newspaper, issue 9814, dated April 24, 2014, in the "Hotline Information" section, reported on the serious environmental pollution affecting residents of Hamlet 9, Hung Yen Nam Commune, Hung Nguyen District, caused by emissions from an oil processing plant located in the area. Following an inspection and verification, on May 12, 2014, the Hung Nguyen District People's Committee issued Official Letter No. 339/UBND-TNMT stating the following: At the time of inspection (April 24, 2014): Mr. Nguyen Van Xuan's waste oil recycling facility was not operating; the inspection team did not detect any discharge causing environmental pollution; an inspection of the undeveloped water area northeast of the recycling facility revealed no dead fish or the smell of emissions as reported. According to Mr. Xuan's report, the facility had ceased recycling waste oil since April 5, 2014.
Examination of the records reveals that: On October 1, 2012, Mr. Nguyen Van Xuan signed business cooperation contract No. 08/HĐGVĐT with Nghe An Environmental Treatment Joint Stock Company to jointly invest in and build a waste oil recycling facility for business purposes, by purchasing waste oil and lubricants to recycle them into D1 industrial fuel oil. Nghe An Environmental Treatment Joint Stock Company was granted a Business Registration Certificate by the Business Registration Office - Department of Planning and Investment of Nghe An province on May 7, 2009 - business code: 2901070574. According to the monitoring results for the first six months of 2014 by the environmental monitoring consulting unit, most indicators were within the permissible limits of Vietnamese Standards.
Currently, the District People's Committee has also requested Mr. Nguyen Van Xuan to stop the recycling activities in order to investigate some related issues.
