(Baonghean)- The Nghe An Newspaper, issue 9360, dated March 23, 2013, reported that "for many months now, hundreds of households along the road to the stone quarries in Len Co, passing through Dong Hoa, Dong Nhan, Dong Xuan, and Dong Trung hamlets in Dong Thanh commune have suffered from dust caused by vehicles transporting stone from the quarries and vehicles of construction units on the Dong Thanh - Quang Thanh raw material road and Khe Chua road...", the Yen Thanh District People's Committee has directed the Department of Natural Resources and Environment to conduct an inspection, respond to the Nghe An Newspaper, and advise on measures to address the situation.

Following the investigation and handling process, on April 10, 2013, the People's Committee of Yen Thanh District sent Official Letter No. 301/UBND.TN to Nghe An Newspaper as follows:

The Khe Chua road, passing through the hamlets of Dong Hoa, Dong Nhan, Dong Xuan, and Dong Trung in Dong Thanh commune, is being constructed by Minh Quang Co., Ltd. To date, the project is still in the ground preparation phase, getting ready for asphalt paving. Recently, on this road, the situation of vehicles transporting construction materials and covering vehicles transporting stone and gravel from the Len Co quarry (not Len Co as reported by the press) causing air pollution due to dust and scattered stones and gravel, affecting surrounding residents and road users, is true.

To continue addressing the air pollution caused by dust on the aforementioned road, the District People's Committee requests the Dong Thanh Commune People's Committee and relevant units to implement the following:

a) People's Committee of Dong Thanh Commune:

- Continue to monitor and coordinate with mining companies operating at the Len Co quarry (Thanh Nam Co., Ltd., Dong Thanh Co., Ltd., and 369 Industrial Joint Stock Company), and road construction units to implement measures to reduce dust pollution on the Khe Chua road under construction.

- Intensify inspections and take action against vehicles carrying oversized or overloaded cargo, and those failing to implement proper covering measures during the transportation of construction materials, resulting in spillage onto the road, affecting the environment and people and vehicles using the road.

b) Mineral mining units operating at the Len Co quarry:

- Thanh Nam Co., Ltd., Dong Thanh Co., Ltd., and 369 Industrial Joint Stock Company are seriously implementing their commitments regarding environmental protection measures in their production activities and contributing funds to water the road surface and reduce dust pollution until the road construction project is completed.

- Regularly remind drivers transporting gravel from the quarry to take measures to cover the material during transportation, preventing it from falling onto the road surface.

c) Road construction contractor:

- Minh Quang Co., Ltd. fulfills its environmental protection commitments during the project construction. It actively participates and cooperates with local authorities and mining companies operating at the Len Co quarry to implement measures to minimize dust pollution along the construction route.

Overcoming difficulties and actively accelerating construction progress will ensure the project is completed on schedule, contributing to reducing dust pollution.

The People's Committee of Yen Thanh District requests the People's Committee of Dong Thanh Commune, the mineral exploitation units at Len Co quarry, and the construction unit of Khe Chua road to strictly implement the above contents.
