(Baonghean) - The Nghe An Newspaper, in its February 22, 2014 issue, in the "Hotline Information" section, published the opinions of several parents of Trung Do Primary School in Vinh City regarding the collection of boarding fees for their children.

According to school regulations, if a student attends the boarding program, the fee is 150,000 VND per student per month (100,000 VND for tuition and 50,000 VND for lunch). Some parents who live near the school and have the means have chosen not to have their children eat at school but instead have them eat at home, yet the school still collects the 150,000 VND fee. The school should reconsider its fee collection method for boarding students who do not eat lunch at school.

After reviewing the issue raised in the newspaper report, on February 25, 2014, the Vinh City People's Committee issued Official Letter No. 681/UBND-VP assigning the Head of the City's Education and Training Department to preside over the coordination with the Finance and Planning Department and the Trung Do Ward People's Committee to investigate and clarify the matter reported in the newspaper. They were instructed to promptly rectify and correct any irregularities in the school's revenue and expenditure. A written report on the results of the investigation and handling was to be submitted to the Vinh City People's Committee and Nghe An Newspaper before March 5, 2014.

We request that the Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee in charge of the socio-cultural sector direct the relevant units to promptly and seriously implement the necessary measures to respond to Nghe An Newspaper.
