The People's Committee of Vinh City is addressing the issue raised in the report.
(Baonghean) - On July 15, 2013, the Nghe An Newspaper published an article titled: "Violations of the power grid safety corridor in Vinh City," reflecting that according to statistics from Vinh City Power Company, there are currently more than 50 residential areas and houses built right within the power grid safety corridor, posing a very high risk to safety. Several reasons have been cited: lax management by local authorities – where the roads run through; lack of close coordination between local authorities and the power sector; and inconsistent planning by the power sector… Protecting the power grid safety corridor is an urgent issue that needs to be addressed to protect the lives and property of people as the rainy and stormy season approaches.
Responding to feedback, the People's Committee of Vinh City directed relevant departments and units to conduct on-site inspections and work with Vinh City Power Company. Following the results, on August 20, 2013, the People's Committee of Vinh City sent Official Letter No. 3688/UBND-QLĐT to Nghe An Newspaper, with the following content:
The content of the newspaper report is accurate. According to statistics from the city's power company, as of June 18, 2013, there were over 50 construction projects violating the safety corridor of high-voltage power lines in the city (not more than 50 residential areas as the newspaper reported). The reason is that households arbitrarily constructed buildings violating the safety corridor of high-voltage power lines; the People's Committees of wards and communes, and the city's power company did not promptly prevent and handle the violations.
The city's power company has implemented several remedial measures, including: raising awareness and encouraging people to voluntarily dismantle structures violating the high-voltage power line safety corridor; upgrading and replacing power lines, and burying them underground. Currently, the city's power company is implementing projects to: bury high-voltage power lines underground along Nguyen Du Street, Phong Dinh Cang Street, and Dang Thai Than Street; and renovate (replace poles with taller ones, replace wires to ensure safety) the 979 high-voltage power line passing through Hung Dong commune, Dong Vinh ward, Quan Bau ward, Ha Huy Tap ward, and Nghi Phu commune. In 2013, the city's power company plans to resolve approximately 15 construction projects violating the high-voltage power line safety corridor.
The People's Committee of Vinh City has directed the People's Committees of wards and communes, and units under the City People's Committee to coordinate with Nghe An Power Company to strengthen inspections and prevent construction projects that violate the safety corridor of high-voltage power lines. It is requested that the City Power Company continue to coordinate with the City People's Committee and the People's Committees of wards and communes to inspect and handle any construction or renovation projects that violate the safety corridor of high-voltage power lines, and to allocate funds for investment and undergrounding of high-voltage power lines to ensure the safety of people's lives.
The People's Committee of Vinh City sincerely thanks Nghe An Newspaper for its timely reporting and hopes to continue receiving the cooperation of your newspaper in the future.
