(Baonghean) - The Nghe An Newspaper, issue dated April 8, 2014, published an article:Tricks to bypass weigh stations on National Highway 1AReflecting on the issue: To contribute to minimizing and ending the problem of oversized and overloaded vehicles participating in traffic, in early April 2014, mobile weighing station No. 15 was put into service on National Highway 1A (the section passing through Dien An commune - Dien Chau district). However, in the early days of operation, the weighing station is facing many difficulties regarding personnel and working mechanisms. Meanwhile, many truck drivers, before passing through this section of road, have used various tricks to try to evade the station (gathering vehicles in empty lots or shops at both ends of the weighing station to wait for an opportunity to escape; hiring trucks to reduce their load before weighing...), some drivers even gather and incite people to put pressure on weighing station officials. The authorities need to promptly impose sanctions and strictly punish those who violate and disregard the law.

After reviewing the issue raised in the report, on April 24, 2014, the People's Committee of Nghe An province issued Official Letter No. 2612/UBND-GT assigning the Department of Transport to take the lead and coordinate with the Provincial Police to investigate and clarify the matter. If the report is accurate, measures must be taken to improve the operation of the weighing station and prevent such incidents from recurring.

Report the results of the inspection and handling to the Provincial People's Committee and send it to the Department of Information and Communications for monitoring before April 30, 2014.
