The Provincial People's Committee held a meeting to evaluate the results of fisheries economic development.

(Baonghean.vn) - On the morning of February 13, 2014, in Vinh City, the Provincial People's Committee held a meeting on the Fisheries Program from 2011-2015 according to Conclusion No. 07/KL-TU dated May 14, 2012 of the Provincial Party Committee Standing Committee. Mr. Dinh Viet Hong - Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee - chaired the meeting.

According to the report of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, by the end of 2013, the sector had developed 6 projects and 1 plan on the fisheries economy. Fisheries economic indicators were high, with the total production value of the sector in 2013 reaching 3,069,874 million VND, equivalent to 101% of the target for 2015. Total fisheries production in 2013 reached 126,766 tons, equivalent to 120.7% of the 2015 target; aquaculture area reached 23,440 hectares; and the value of processed products for export reached 21 million USD, equivalent to 80% of the 2015 target. Shrimp farming productivity and output were high, and fisheries exploitation developed strongly.

Comrade Dinh Viet Hong delivered a speech at the meeting.

Speaking at the conference, the departments assessed and further discussed the mechanisms and policies supporting fishermen in seafood harvesting, the effectiveness of capital allocated to fisheries, and the shortcomings in the implementation of the fisheries program compared to the province's potential. Mr. Dinh Viet Hong, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, requested the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development and other departments to advise the Provincial People's Committee on the direction of fisheries development in the coming years before submitting it to the Provincial Party Standing Committee.
