(Baonghean.vn) – On September 24th, under the chairmanship of the Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Nguyen Xuan Duong, the Provincial People's Committee held its regular September meeting to assess the socio-economic situation in the first nine months of the year and discuss other important issues. Attending the meeting were the Vice Chairmen of the Provincial People's Committee, committee members, and leaders of departments and agencies. Districts participated online.

Assessing the socio-economic situation in the first nine months of the year and solutions to complete the 2015 plan were the most prominent topics discussed at the meeting this morning. According to the report, the socio-economic situation in the first nine months of 2014 achieved many important results, creating momentum for the successful implementation of the 2015 plan. The growth rate in the first nine months of this year was higher than the same period last year. Agricultural production achieved relatively good results despite facing many natural disasters and droughts. The total area planted with annual crops is estimated at 372,248.2 hectares, an increase of 0.3% compared to the same period; the output of grain crops is estimated at 1,077,159 tons, an increase of 0.64% compared to the same period. The output of aquatic products in the first nine months is estimated at 121,115 tons, an increase of 7.99% compared to the same period; of which the output from fishing is estimated at 85,708 tons, an increase of 9.43%.

Industrial production is on the road to recovery. Several production facilities have resumed operations, such as the Hoa Sen Steel Plant (in Nam Cam Industrial Park), Royal Foods (capable of producing 60,000 to 100,000 cans of canned fish per month), and the Song Lam 2 Cement Plant. Several factories have also begun trial runs: Masan (in Nam Cam Industrial Park), MDF board production (in Nghia Dan), and clean raw material production (in Anh Son)... The average Industrial Production Index (IIP) for the first nine months increased by 9.07% compared to the same period last year, with some products showing significant growth such as fresh milk, beer, and cement. In the first nine months of 2015, 36 communes achieved all 19 criteria that had been assessed.

In the first nine months of 2015, the number of visitors to Nghe An continued to increase. The total number of overnight tourists was estimated at 5 million, a 6% increase compared to the same period last year, with international visitors estimated at 49,810, a 2% increase compared to the same period last year. Tourism service revenue was estimated at 2,299 billion VND, an 11% increase compared to the same period last year.

Significant results have been achieved in attracting investment: Many large-scale investment projects have been attracted from reputable investors such as Sembcorp Group, Becamex, Royal Food, BSE, Ton Hoa Sen, The Vissai, Hoang Phat, Masan, etc., especially the commencement of the VSIP Nghe An Industrial, Urban and Service Complex project – the seventh project of VSIP. Budget revenue for the first nine months is estimated at VND 6,106.62 billion, equivalent to 74.6% of the projected amount, an increase of 13.9% compared to the same period last year.

The socio-cultural and health sectors have seen many positive changes. During the first nine months of 2015, Nghe An province held numerous meetings with Party and State leaders and central ministries and agencies to support the implementation of Resolution No. 26-NQ/TW of the Politburo.

At the meeting, many opinions from various sectors and districts focused on evaluating and discussing the results and solutions for implementing the remaining plan for 2015. The focus was on issues such as: building new rural areas, progress in budget revenue collection, capital for basic construction, the situation of industrial development in the area, etc.

In the morning, the Provincial People's Committee also spent time listening to presentations on the results of implementing the conclusions of the Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee at the online meeting in the second quarter of 2015 and the regular meeting of the Provincial People's Committee in August 2015: Report on administrative reform work in the first nine months of 2015, tasks and solutions for the last three months of 2015; Report on foreign affairs work in the first nine months of 2015, tasks and solutions for the last three months of 2015.

Concluding the provincial People's Committee meeting this morning, Comrade Nguyen Xuan Duong, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, highly appreciated the results achieved in the past nine months, especially in attracting investment, building infrastructure, the industrial development index increasing by over 9%, and building new rural areas. The province successfully organized many conferences, worked with many partners and investors, commenced and inaugurated many factories and strategic projects, prepared for the inauguration of the Western Nghe An road, and completed the party congresses at the grassroots and district levels. Party committees and governments at all levels have directed decisively and achieved many very good results despite the large volume of work. However, difficulties still remain such as resources, land clearance, progress in building national standard schools, and drug issues.

The Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee requested that districts and sectors review and focus on directing efforts to complete the 2015 plan targets, develop a sound plan for 2016, concentrate on removing difficulties for production and business, accelerate the progress of key projects, strengthen administrative discipline, take care of cultural and social fields, ensure the effective implementation of social welfare issues, protect the environment, ensure national defense, security, social order and safety, resolve complaints and denunciations effectively, and prepare thoroughly for the 18th Provincial Party Congress.

In the afternoon, the Provincial People's Committee continued its meeting program.
