At the press conference, the Provincial People's Committee briefly reported on the socio-economic situation in 2011 and the socio-economic development plan for 2012. In 2011, despite many difficulties due to natural disasters, complicated epidemics, high inflation and interest rates, the socio-economic situation of the province remained stable.GDP growth rate reached 10.38%, budget revenue was the highest in the North Central region, reaching 6,668 billion VND, equal to 140% of the estimate and increasing 25.95% compared to 2010, ranking 13th in the country.
Food output reached nearly 1.2 million tons, the highest ever. Cultural, educational, scientific and technological, and health activities have made much progress, especially in education and sports, achieving high results... The goal for 2012 is determined to prioritize curbing inflation, stabilizing the macro economy, maintaining a reasonable growth rate associated with model innovation and economic restructuring. Improving the quality and efficiency of the economy. Strongly improving the investment and production environment, promoting production development, ensuring social security, national defense and security, maintaining political stability. Striving to complete the targets: GDP growth rate reaches 9.5-10.5%; budget revenue reaches 6,080 billion VND; total export turnover reaches 350-400 million VND; total social development investment reaches 28-30%...
Also at the press conference, the representative of the Department of Information and Communications reported the results of the implementation of Decision 99/2007/QD-UBND promulgating regulations on "Providing, publishing, and processing information in the press in Nghe An province" in 2011. On behalf of the press agencies of the province, comrade Tran Duy Ngoan - Chairman of the Nghe An Journalists Association reported the results of activities and recommendations of the press agencies to the province to create conditions for the press to operate more effectively. Representatives of central and local press agencies also had many opinions to share difficulties, express their thoughts and aspirations, and make recommendations and proposals revolving around unresolved issues such as: the deterioration of traffic and irrigation works after floods, market prices, food hygiene and safety, inadequacies in mineral exploitation, compensation for site clearance, urban and rural environmental pollution, difficulties of enterprises affecting workers' lives, weaknesses in urban infrastructure management, quality of medical examination and treatment, traffic safety, etc. Some limitations in implementing regulations on providing, publishing, and processing information such as the fact that some agencies, departments, and localities do not fully understand the press law, refuse to provide information, hinder the work of journalists, the handling of violations is not timely, lenient, and not deterrent enough, etc. were also raised at the press conference.
