(Baonghean.vn) -On the occasion of the Lunar New Year of the Dragon, this morning, January 13th, in Vinh City, under the chairmanship of Comrade Ho Duc Phoc - Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, the Nghe An Provincial People's Committee held a press conference on the socio-economic situation in 2012.
Also attending were comrades Nguyen Xuan Duong - Member of the Standing Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; To Hong Hai - Member of the Standing Committee, Head of the Provincial Party Committee's Propaganda Department; representatives of provincial departments and agencies, the Provincial Journalists Association, leaders and reporters of local press agencies, representative offices, and central newspapers with bureaus in the area.

At the press conference, the Provincial People's Committee provided a summary of the socio-economic situation in 2011 and the socio-economic development plan for 2012. Despite numerous difficulties in 2011 due to natural disasters, complex disease outbreaks, and high inflation and interest rates, the province's socio-economic situation remained stable.GDP growth reached 10.38%, budget revenue was the highest in the North Central region, reaching 6,668 billion VND, equivalent to 140% of the projected figure and an increase of 25.95% compared to 2010, ranking 13th nationwide.
Food production reached nearly 1.2 million tons, the highest ever. Cultural, educational, scientific, technological, and health activities made significant progress, especially in education, and sports achieved high results… The goals for 2012 were set as prioritizing inflation control, macroeconomic stability, maintaining reasonable growth while simultaneously reforming the economic model and restructuring the economy. Improving the quality and efficiency of the economy; significantly improving the investment and business environment; promoting production development; ensuring social security, national defense and security; and maintaining political stability. The targets were to achieve: GDP growth rate of 9.5-10.5%; budget revenue of 6,080 billion VND; total export turnover of 350-400 million VND; and total social development investment of 28-30%…
Also at the press conference, a representative from the Department of Information and Communications reported on the implementation of Decision 99/2007/QD-UBND, which promulgates regulations on "Providing, publishing, and processing information in the press within Nghe An province" in 2011. On behalf of the province's press agencies, Mr. Tran Duy Ngoan, Chairman of the Nghe An Journalists Association, reported on the results of their activities and presented recommendations to the province to create conditions for more effective press operations. Representatives from central and local press agencies also shared their concerns, aspirations, and suggestions regarding unresolved issues such as: the deterioration of transportation and irrigation infrastructure after floods, market prices, food safety and hygiene, inadequacies in mineral exploitation, land compensation, urban and rural environmental pollution, the difficulties faced by businesses affecting workers' lives, weaknesses in urban infrastructure management, quality of medical examination and treatment, traffic safety, etc. Some limitations in implementing regulations on providing, publishing, and processing information, such as some agencies, departments, and localities not fully understanding the press law, refusing to provide information, hindering journalists' work, and the untimely, lenient, and insufficiently deterrent handling of violations, were also raised at the press conference.
On behalf of the provincial leadership, Comrade Ho Duc Phoc received and directly addressed the opinions of representatives from the press agencies, promising to consider and direct relevant departments, agencies, and localities to take action.Addressing existing difficulties and obstacles.
