Nghe An Provincial People's Committee works with Tuyen Quang Provincial People's Committee on developing agricultural and forestry production

(Baonghean.vn) - At the meeting, solutions for sustainable agricultural and forestry production development, especially experiences in the process of building a high-tech forestry zone, were exchanged by the two provinces, in order to find effective ways.

On the morning of April 8, under the chairmanship of Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Van De, the People's Committee of Nghe An province had a working session with the delegation of the People's Committee of Tuyen Quang province led by Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen The Giang.

The meeting aimed to discuss plans for agricultural and forestry production development in the area, especially experiences in building high-tech forestry zones.

Towards sustainable forest economic development

Previously, the delegation of Tuyen Quang Provincial People's Committee visited the North Central Region High-Tech Forestry Zone in Nghi Loc District. In 2021, Nghe An province was approved by the Prime Minister to establish the North Central Region High-Tech Forestry Zone with an area of ​​612 hectares, which is the first high-tech forestry zone in the country.

The high-tech forestry zone in the North Central region, built and put into operation, will contribute to promoting the development of the forestry industry in a modern direction, applying high technology in the forestry production value chain. Building Nghe An into a major wood processing and export center in the North Central region and the Central region. Striving to bring the export turnover of wood and forest products to about 1 billion USD by 2025 in the North Central region.

At the meeting, Mr. Phung Thanh Vinh - Director of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development introduced some information about forestry development in Nghe An.

Nghe An has over 962,000 hectares of forest land, with a forest cover of 58.41%. In recent years, the forest economy in the area has had remarkable developments. The growth rate of forestry production value in 2022 reached 9.07%, an increase of 1.27% compared to 2021; export turnover value reached over 344 million USD, an increase of 66% compared to 2021. The forest area certified with FSC sustainable forest management has increased year by year, with the current area reaching nearly 16,000 hectares.

Speaking at the working session with Nghe An Provincial People's Committee, Mr. Nguyen The Giang - Vice Chairman of Tuyen Quang Provincial People's Committee said that with 448,000 hectares of land planned for forestry (accounting for 76% of natural area), Tuyen Quang currently has over 426,000 hectares of forest area. The province has formed a raw material area for planted forests of over 190,000 hectares; annually exploiting over 1 million m3Wood, there are currently 8 wood processing factories in the area.

Tuyen Quang is implementing the project "Building Tuyen Quang into a high-tech forestry zone and a wood production and processing center".

Clearly define the field to have effective investment solutions

At the meeting, the two sides learned and exchanged practical experiences in production development as well as solutions to successfully implement targets in the agricultural and forestry sector, especially the development of forestry economy towards increasing value, associated with environmental protection.

Nghe An also shared solutions for sustainable development of agriculture and forestry in the area, especially the experience in building a high-tech forestry zone, with specific issues such as: resource mobilization, location determination, scale, land fund creation, management organization issues, plans to attract investment enterprises, policies of the province; difficulties, obstacles as well as experiences and effective methods to successfully build a high-tech forestry zone.

Accordingly, Nghe An has developed preferential policies to attract investment in agriculture and forestry such as: Supporting the conversion of raw material forests to large timber forests; supporting labor training, investing in roads to production areas and raw material areas; leveling the ground; encouraging and supporting businesses to innovate technology and produce new products.

“We also identify economic corridors for each development sector, in which the issue of building high-tech agricultural and forestry zones is included in the province's specific planning to have effective implementation solutions,” said Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee Nguyen Van De.
