Paramedics arrived at the scene on the evening of October 13. According to one of the victims, Linda Smith, 64, who looks after the kangaroos in their natural habitat, the attack occurred when her husband tried to feed the animals. The woman tried to help her husband, but ended up being injured herself. Her son, who came to his mother’s rescue, was also affected.
"Paramedics were shocked when they arrived at the scene by the serious injuries they were dealing with," Queensland Ambulance Service spokesman Stephen Jones said.
The Sydney Morning Herald reported that the woman suffered chest injuries, several broken ribs, and lacerations to her arms and legs as a result of the attack. She is expected to undergo surgery. Her husband was hospitalized with multiple open wounds. Her son received medical attention at the scene.
