Ukraine makes new statement about readiness for negotiations with Russia
Ukraine's presidential adviser said the country is ready to negotiate with Russia on the basis of international law.

According to RIA Novosti, Ukraine's Strana news agency quoted a statement by the Ukrainian Presidential Office Advisor, Mikhail Podolyak, saying that Ukraine is ready to negotiate with Russia on terms based on international law.
“Negotiations are certainly necessary, but Ukraine needs to make it clear: Let's negotiate on terms based on international law,” Ukrainian presidential adviser Podolyak said on July 30.
Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs James O'Brien said on July 30 that the United States recognizes that it cannot alone ensure Ukraine's success in its confrontation with Russia.
“I absolutely agree that we cannot win this conflict alone,” Mr. O'Brien told the Senate Foreign Relations Committee.
Mr O'Brien added that Washington is working with its allies in Europe and is working not only to increase support for Ukraine, but also to ensure that this aid allocation is spent "appropriately".
According to O'Brien, the US and its NATO allies are beginning to develop a new strategy for deeper engagement with Russia.
For its part, Russia has repeatedly expressed its readiness to resolve the Ukrainian conflict through diplomatic means. However, Kiev has previously imposed a ban on negotiations at the legislative level and ignored Moscow's statements about its readiness for dialogue.
