According to Xinhua News Agency, in an interview with Radio Liberty Ukrainian, US Charge d'Affaires in Kiev William Taylor said that Ukraine has asked the US to sell more Javelin anti-tank missile systems to the country.
"They want to buy more Javelin (systems)," the US diplomat said, stressing that the deal could be completed for defense purposes through the US Department of Defense's foreign arms sales program.
Mr. Taylor's statement is a confirmation of Ukraine's intention to continue purchasing the missile system after 37 launchers and 210 accompanying missiles were purchased from the US in April 2018.
The United States has provided Kiev with about $1.5 billion in military aid since 2014. In June 2019, the Department of Defense announced it would provide $250 million to Ukraine to purchase sniper rifles, grenade launchers, anti-artillery radars, and night vision equipment, among other equipment.
