Ukraine will soon face consequences for seizing Russian oil tanker
(Baonghean.vn) - On July 25, a spokesman for the Russian Foreign Ministry threatened Kiev with consequences after Ukraine said it was seizing a Russian oil tanker related to a naval confrontation between the two countries last November.

"We are looking into what happened to take appropriate steps. If Russians were taken hostage, this move would be interpreted as the most egregious violation of international law and there would be consequences soon," the official said.
On the same day, RIA news agency quoted Deputy Chairman of the International Affairs Committee of the Russian Senate Vladimir Dzhabarov as assessing Ukraine's seizure of a Russian oil tanker as "a completely illegal act" and declaring that this move was detrimental to bilateral relations.
Meanwhile, Chairman of the International Affairs Committee of the Russian Senate Konstantin Kosachev emphasized that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy needs to clearly state his stance on this incident.
Earlier the same day, Ukraine's SBU security service announced that it had detained the Russian oil tanker NEYMA, which was allegedly involved in a clash between Russian and Ukrainian ships last November near the Crimean Peninsula./.
