According to RT, President Vladimir Zelensky's senior advisor confirmed information about a recent meeting between Kiev's senior general Valery Zaluzhny and NATO commanders. The source also revealed that Western officials regularly receive updates from the battlefield in Ukraine.

Specifically, on August 26, Mikhail Podoliak told a Ukrainian TV channel: "There are many such meetings." According to advisor Podoliak, Kiev's military strategy remains "flexible", adapting to the situation on the ground.

"The General Staff regularly makes adjustments, depending on what is happening on the front line. Obviously, these adjustments are always discussed with our partners in order to realize the provision of additional weapons," the adviser said.

Also on August 26, the Guardian reported that “11 days ago, some of the most senior military personnel in the NATO alliance traveled to a secret location on the Polish-Ukrainian border” to meet Zaluzhny and “his entire command group.”

The aim of the five-hour meeting was to “help reset Ukraine’s military strategy” amid the country’s slow-moving offensive, the paper said. Ukrainian and NATO officials are also said to have discussed plans for the coming winter and beyond.

Kiev's counteroffensive, launched in early June, has so far failed to gain any significant territory, and in the process has inflicted heavy losses on the Ukrainian army in terms of troops and armor provided by the West.

The New York Times and the Wall Street Journal recently reported that American and British officials had disagreements with Ukrainian planners over tactics. One complaint, it was reported, was that the Ukrainian military had dispersed its best-equipped units along the front line, rather than concentrating their attacks in one place.

After Washington’s approval, Denmark and the Netherlands last week promised to send US-made F-16 fighter jets to Ukraine. The jets have long been on Kiev’s “wish list” as it hopes to salvage its combat operations.

Meanwhile, Russia has repeatedly warned that Western weapons will not change the outcome of the conflict but will only bring NATO closer to open confrontation with Moscow.
