British Prime Minister candidate declares readiness to use nuclear weapons if necessary

At a meeting with Conservative Party members in Birmingham, when asked about the situation of having to use nuclear weapons, Ms. Truss said: "I think this is an important task for the Prime Minister. I am ready to do that." The British Foreign Secretary also said that she would declassify more intelligence information about Russia's actions in the world if she became the new Prime Minister.

The Telegraph quoted Ms. Truss as emphasizing: "As Prime Minister, I will go forward and do my best, including declassifying more intelligence to expose (President Vladimir Putin's) tactics to the whole world."

Ms Truss noted there would be a similar approach to other "hostile states" and "threats to global security".
