Republican presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy told ABC News that the United States must force Ukraine to make major concessions to Russia to end the conflict. And Washington should focus on dealing with China.
"I think we need to end hostilities in Ukraine and abide by the terms of peace. To achieve this, we have to make major concessions to Russia," said candidate Vivek Ramaswami.
Mr. Ramaswami expressed his belief that the main threat to the United States is China. Therefore, to focus on this major challenge, Washington must quickly end the conflict in Ukraine.
The politician also called on the US to commit to not allowing Ukraine to join NATO, if this would untie Washington in Europe, in order to focus on dealing with Beijing in Asia.
"Having a simultaneous conflict with two nuclear superpowers, Russia and China, is disadvantageous for the US," said Mr. Ramaswami.
The US presidential candidate stressed that the responsibility of a president is primarily to look after the interests of the United States, which does not include funding the conflict in Ukraine.
Also related to Ukraine's accession to NATO, former US Armed Forces intelligence officer Scott Ritter said that President Zelensky's hope that Ukraine would be accepted into NATO is illusory, because the West has long expressed its distaste and disrespect for him. Therefore, Ukraine's accession to NATO is a story that will never happen. According to the former US intelligence officer, Zelensky not only lives in a fictional world and harbors illusions about membership in the alliance, but also does not even understand the true attitude of Western allies towards him./.
