Applying energy-saving devices effectively

Recent developments suggest that Vietnam will temporarily escape electricity shortages in the next few years. However, electricity prices will continue to rise, therefore effective energy-saving solutions are necessary.

Vietnam is implementing a national target program on energy conservation and efficiency, aiming to save 3-5% of total national energy consumption during the 2006-2010 period and 5-8% during the 2011-2015 period. In 2012, the country saved electricity worth approximately 2,200 billion VND, and the corresponding figure for 2013 was nearly 4,000 billion VND.

According to the Ministry of Industry and Trade, electricity and energy saving efforts have yielded positive results; however, the implementation of projects is generally slow. Electricity and energy saving in general will be a key focus of the industry and trade sector in the coming period. Meanwhile, consumers are still particularly interested in solutions for saving electricity. A recent research report by Nielsen indicates that 90% of Vietnamese consumers have changed their spending habits to reduce living expenses, with saving gas and electricity being the top priority. Furthermore, Vietnam is the only country among six Southeast Asian nations that has chosen saving electricity and gas as the primary way to reduce living costs.

Recognizing this demand, Anyhomes (South Korea) recently opened a representative office and showroom in Hanoi with the goal of penetrating Vietnam's energy-saving market, which is considered to have significant potential. Vietnam is a very large electricity consumer market, therefore the demand for energy-saving products is expected to increase in the near future, especially given rising electricity prices. At the end of 2013, Anyhomes Asia imported 2,000 Anyhomes Saver energy-saving products to Vietnam to serve consumers. Within a month, nearly 1,000 products were released to the market and were well received by consumers. The product also meets European quality standards according to current regulations. In Vietnam, Anyhomes Saver has also been inspected and certified by the Quality Measurement and Testing Center 1 (Quatest1) under the General Department of Standards, Metrology and Quality. This is the only product of its kind currently licensed for sale in the Vietnamese market.

In 2014 and subsequent years, in conjunction with energy saving and efficiency programs, Anyhomes will cooperate with relevant industrial development agencies in all 63 provinces and cities nationwide to bring the Anyhomes Saver energy-saving device to consumers and expand its distribution network throughout the country. In the long term, Anyhomes will also propose solutions in collaboration with the Vietnam Electricity Group (EVN) to apply the Anyhomes Saver energy-saving device to individual households, replacing the need for centralized compensation after substations. This solution will contribute to reducing electricity consumption for the power industry and lowering electricity costs for electricity companies nationwide.
