Skin cancer can come to you from seemingly harmless signs.
Skin cancer is growing rapidly, don't be subjective if you are one of those who are regularly exposed to ultraviolet rays.
1. Sunburn
Usually people get sunburned while they are on vacation at a beach, or on a hot, sunny day, so they don't pay much attention to the problem.
However, studies at the Melanoma Research Foundation have said that sunburn can put a person at high risk of developing skin cancer. Because a sunburn will activate cancer cells in the skin. Therefore, applying sunscreen every time you go out is a way to protect yourself.
2. White skin
In countries like India, where people crave fairer skin, studies have shown that people with fair skin are at a higher risk of skin cancer than those with darker skin. The melanin content of fair skin is very low, which cannot protect the skin from ultraviolet rays.
3. Living in the mountains
As we know, ultraviolet radiation from the sun is closely related to skin cancer. Therefore, the geographical location where you live is also very important. Some studies have found that people who live in high altitude areas, such as mountains or hills, have a higher risk of developing skin cancer, because these people are exposed to much higher levels of UV radiation from the sun than people who live in lowland areas.
4. Genetics
There are some diseases such as diabetes, haemophilia… that can be passed down from ancestors. When it comes to cancer, not all cancers have a genetic cause. However, skin cancer is a type of cancer that is genetically linked.
Studies have found that if a person's ancestors had skin cancer, their descendants will have a 50% higher risk than normal people.
5. Fly regularly
A 2014 study at the University of California found that people who frequently travel on planes are exposed to ultraviolet rays at very close range. Therefore, the level of skin cancer is also much higher.
6. Traveling for hours
Because of busy work, having to constantly move from one place to another, whether by public transport, car, bicycle or on foot, exposing the skin to sunlight, dust, and pollution are all causes of skin cancer.
