Ukrainian presidential candidate says he is ready to “talk” to Russian President Putin
Ukrainian presidential candidate Vladimir Zelensky said he needed to talk to Russia about peace in Donbas in the presence of Western representatives and said he was ready to negotiate with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
"A ceasefire so that our guys stop dying. What can we do for this? Continue the Minsk agreements, but everyone agrees that the Minsk format needs to be reformed... There needs to be a format for negotiations with the Russian Federation in the presence of Western representatives," Zelensky said on the "Ukraine" TV channel.
He also said he was ready to hold talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
“We will never sacrifice our territories and people,” said Mr. Zelensky.
He also believes that a ceasefire in Donbass is needed as soon as possible.
“The first stage will be a ceasefire in the east. We cannot allow the process to drag on, because every day we start with the morning news about how many of our boys died in the east,” the candidate added.
