Born cyesLike many other children, life seems to be somewhat unfair to Kha Thi Hoai Thu, Quang Thinh village, Tam Dinh commune, Tuong Duong district (Nghe An). Thu was born without knowing her father.babymust mStruggling alone to give birth to and raise Thu.Ballhow muchgossip of the village, relatives and the gossip of the peopleopinionbut mThu's motherstill gritted teeth to bear to raise children.
However, when Thu was born, she could only move one leg. The other leg was stiff and her foot contracted. As she grew older, her leg shrank more and more, and she could not stand up and walk. At the age of 3, she was still dragging herself on the floor. In pain and frustration, the mother thought of giving up. But the poor child's call of "mother" helped the young mother wake up. She taught her child to walk step by step with one leg. The other leg was the mother's guiding hand. And so the mother and child gradually moved forward.

Thu did not let her mother down. After a while, she was able to walk with only one leg. She thought life would smile on her and her mother. But it seemed that God was determined to take away everything a child had the right to enjoy. Not knowing when her mother had contracted an incurable disease. When Thu was 10 years old, her mother passed away. Thu was already an orphan, but her fate became even more tragic.
Loving their orphaned grandchild, Thu's grandparents took care of her wholeheartedly. Every day, they went into the forest to find bamboo shoots and firewood to sell to earn money to cover their daily expenses and to raise their grandchild to study. However, their health was poor and they could only earn enough to eat vegetables and porridge. Seeing their skinny, pale grandchild, the grandparents felt very sorry for them. They were afraid that when the two old people passed away, the grandchild would have no one to depend on. Understanding their feelings, Thu promised herself to try to study hard. Although she was hungry and miserable, she studied very hard. With only one leg, she still helped her grandparents with many chores around the house.
Another challenge came to Thu when she entered secondary school. Her house was 2km away from school, making it difficult for her to go to class. Her old and weak grandparents could not take her to school. Thu faced the possibility of dropping out of school halfway. Seeing her peers happily going to school, Thu burst into tears. The idea of learning to ride a bike with one leg arose, Thu asked for an old bike from her uncle's house. Every day, Thu practiced riding a bike, keeping the bike balanced was already difficult for her, let alone learning to ride it. With no one around to help, she had to remind herself to take each step, persevering every day to find the letters. Just like that, every day with her will, Thu successfully conquered the old bike with only one leg.
While others take their parents' love, protection, and care as motivation to strive to excel, little Kha Thi Hoai Thu has turned pain and loss into action to overcome all the storms and difficulties in life.
Although her childhood was pitiful and lonely, Thu always tried her best. When she was in 8th grade, she passed the district's Literature exam. She was an excellent student for four consecutive years in middle school. However, she could no longer continue to go to high school with her friends. The nearest high school was 15km away from home, and her grandparents were too old and weak to continue to support her education. Thu had to leave high school with many unfinished dreams. Unable to stay at home in the forest and work on the fields, she had to choose a new direction for herself, which was to learn a trade. And this was probably a wise choice for her at the moment.

Thu chose sewing, a profession that is very suitable for people with disabilities like her. Luckily, during her apprenticeship, she was supported with 1.2 million VND/month to cover her food expenses. Every month, she went home a few times, and her grandparents saved up a few hundred thousand VND to support her for travel expenses and personal expenses.
Thu is currently in the final months of a sewing class at a vocational school 40km from her home. The vocational school has promised to find her a job after graduation. Thu knows that difficulties still await her in the journey ahead. “I will try to overcome them.” – The 16-year-old girl clearly expressed her determination.
