Poor student's dream of becoming a doctor to treat single mother
(Baonghean.vn) - In recent days, everyone in the village has heard the news that Nguyen Ngoc Tuan, a student at Tan Ky High School, scored 29.05 points in the B block in the national high school exam (including regional scores). Meeting Tuan while he was enthusiastically tutoring poor children in the village for free, I was really impressed with Tuan - a poor student with bright eyes, a gentle and lovable smile.
Nguyen Ngoc Tuan currently lives with his mother in Ky Lam hamlet, Ky Son commune, Tan Ky district in a small, simple house. Unlike his peers, Tuan was not as fortunate as his father when he was born. The mother and son depend on each other, sometimes hungry, sometimes full, to get through the day.
Tuan's mother, Hong, was born into a large, disadvantaged and poor family. All misfortunes seemed to fall on the head of this small, miserable woman. After an accident, she lost one leg, making it difficult for her to walk. The family was among the poorest in the commune, but Tuan's mother still tried to work hard to raise her children with the little money she earned from repairing things, making rice cakes, selling small items, doing whatever she was hired to do... For her, Tuan was a support that gave her more motivation to overcome difficulties, a gift that life had given her for her unfortunate life.

She confided: “Despite the hardships and poverty, I do not want my child to suffer like me, so I always encourage him to study hard. As long as I am alive, I will try my best to help him pursue his studies. It is true that when I heard that my child passed the university entrance exam with high results, I was so happy that I cried, but then I was both happy and worried. It has been so hard to raise my child in high school, now that he is in university, living in the capital, I do not know where to find money to provide for him every month. Maybe when he goes to Hanoi, I will follow him there to work as a maid for others, and I will think about the next step.”
“Tuan also loves me very much, so these past few days, seeing me worried, he couldn’t eat or sleep. I remember when he went to the excellent student exam, I gave him 50,000 VND to drink, he didn’t spend it but instead bought me a work shirt and told me to let his mother wear it to work to avoid the sun” - saying that, she sobbed, tears streaming down her face.
Understanding the pain in his mother's heart, not letting down her immense love and great hope, Tuan never made his mother upset. He always brought joy to his mother with his academic achievements. For 12 consecutive years, Tuan was always an excellent student. In particular, in grade 11, Tuan won second prize in the provincial excellent student category in Biology. Tuan was also awarded the "Poor student overcoming difficulties" scholarship by the Tan Ky District Youth Union and Nghe An Provincial Youth Union.
Tran Ngoc Tuan said that it was a gift for his mother, and it was the immense love he had for his mother that motivated him to successfully complete the 2017 National High School Exam with high results.

In the recent university entrance exam, I applied to Hanoi Medical University with a score of 27.55. Of which, Math was 8.8 points; Biology was 9.5 points and Chemistry was 9.25 points, adding up the regional score, I got 29.05 points. I said that Biology is my favorite subject.
Tuan confided: "My biggest dream is to become a doctor to take care of my mother's health and treat people, especially those in difficult circumstances."./.
