Recently, scientists have researched a device that allows measuring HIV concentration in the human body with an accuracy rate of up to 95% and takes only 30 minutes to produce results. What is more special is that this device is used as a USB stick.

According to The Verge, this is the result of scientists at Imperial College London - UK after days of non-stop research. They have successfully developed and manufactured a USB device capable of detecting HIV levels in the blood, with extremely high accuracy and safety.

This breakthrough research will greatly help in HIV testing as it is now, when patients often have to send blood to laboratories to test for HIV levels and it can take several weeks to get results.

This device works extremely simply, you just need to drop a drop of your blood on a USB stick equipped with an electronic chip inside, if HIV virus is detected in the blood sample, the acid concentration in the USB will change. This change will be measured and evaluated by the chip to give the most accurate results. They tested on 991 blood samples with an average time of 21 minutes.

Although this technology cannot be launched on the market soon, it opens a new step in HIV testing extremely fast and accurate. Moreover, using USB is quite simple, patients can use it to monitor HIV levels in their bodies and treat with medication more reasonably. Hopefully in the near future there will be more USB testing devices developed to help us save time and money in treating the disease.
