USD hits two-week low

USD exchange rate today April 5, 2024, USD VCB increased slightly by 10 VND in both buying and selling directions, meanwhile, the world USD recorded its lowest level in two weeks.

The central VND/USD exchange rate announced by the State Bank is adjusted to 24,038 VND/USD, an increase of 18 VND compared to the trading session on April 4.

Currently, the exchange rate allowed for trading by commercial banks ranges from 23,400 - 25,189 VND/USD. The US Dollar exchange rate has also been brought to the buying and selling range by the State Bank of Vietnam from 23,400 to 25,189 VND/USD.

The USD exchange rate at banks and domestic foreign exchange rates this morning recorded a series of upward adjustments at banks. Specifically, Vietcombank has a buying price of 24,740 and a selling price of 25,110, an increase of 10 VND compared to the trading session on April 4. The current USD buying and selling prices are in the range of 23,400 - 25,300 VND/USD.

In the world market, the Dollar Index (DXY), measuring the USD against 6 major currencies (EUR, JPY, GBP, CAD, SEK, CHF), stopped at 104.21 points - down 0.03% compared to the transaction on April 4.

Domestic gold slightly increased, world gold slightly decreased

Today, SJC gold increased slightly by 200,000 VND per tael, bringing the price to 81.32 million VND/tael, world gold decreased slightly after a series of strong increases.

At the time of survey at 5:00 a.m. on April 5, 2024, the gold price on the trading floors of some companies was as follows:

DOJI listed the price of 9999 gold at 78.70 million VND/tael for buying and 81.00 million VND/tael for selling.

SJC gold price at Bao Tin Minh Chau Company Limited is also traded by the enterprise at 79.00 - 81.00 million VND/tael (buy - sell). Meanwhile, at Bao Tin Manh Hai, it is being traded at 79.00 - 81.20 million VND/tael (buy - sell).

According to Kitco, the world gold price recorded at 5:00 a.m. today, Vietnam time, was at 2,291.70 USD/ounce. Today's gold price decreased by 7.82 USD/ounce compared to yesterday. Converted according to the current exchange rate at Vietcombank, the world gold price is about 68.118 million VND/tael (excluding taxes and fees). Thus, the price of SJC gold bars is still 11.182 million VND/tael higher than the international gold price.

Rice prices continue to rise

Rice prices in the Mekong Delta continued to increase today. In some localities, rice supplies are limited, some fields are beautiful, farmers offer high prices.

In the Mekong Delta region, prices of some types of rice and paddy increased.

In localities such as Tien Giang, An Giang, Soc Trang, Dong Thap, the demand for rice from warehouses is stable today, the price continues to increase by 50 VND/kg. Specifically, the price of IR 504 raw rice fluctuates around 10,650 - 10,700 VND/kg, an increase of 50 VND/kg; IR 504 finished rice remains stable at 13,100 - 13,150 VND/kg, an increase of 50 VND/kg.

At retail markets, rice prices remained stable. Accordingly, the price of regular rice fluctuated around VND14,000 - 15,000/kg; Jasmine rice VND17,000 - 18,000/kg; Nang Nhen rice VND26,000/kg; long-grain fragrant rice VND19,000 - 20,000/kg; Huong jasmine rice VND21,000/kg; Taiwanese fragrant rice VND20,000/kg.

In the rice market, in localities such as Hau Giang, An Giang, Kien Giang, Dong Thap... the average rice price fluctuates around 7,200 - 7,900 VND/kg. In An Giang, the rice supply is still limited, most of the rice has been deposited. Some fields are beautiful, farmers offer high prices.

In the export market, Vietnam's rice export price decreased slightly by 3 USD/ton. According to the Vietnam Food Association (VFA), the price of 5% broken rice is currently at 579 USD/ton, down 3 USD/ton. Meanwhile, 25% broken rice is at 558 USD/ton; 100% broken rice remains stable at 478 USD/ton.
