Because many places do not have the initiative to source irrigation water and depend on nature, people choose hybrid corn varieties that are drought-resistant such as NK 7328, B265, CP 111, P4199...

Nghia Dan farmers choose drought-resistant corn varieties with large leaves and stems to supply to dairy cows.

Mr. Dinh Van Hung - Nam Phong hamlet, Nghia Long commune said: Previously, his family planted cassava in the garden but it was not effective. This year, his family planted 5 sao of P4199 corn to sell to the dairy factory. From planting to harvesting, it took 90 days. In this crop, although there was little rain and the family did not have the conditions to irrigate, the corn still grew well, with a yield of about 40 tons/ha.

If growing corn for grain takes 110 to 120 days from planting to harvest, growing young corn takes only 85 to 100 days. However, choosing the corn variety as well as taking care of it to have large plants, large leaves, and large ears is very important.

Currently, out of the total area of ​​over 1,200 hectares of corn grown for dairy farming in the area, only 230 hectares of TH Dairy Food Company have automatic irrigation systems, a few people have the conditions to use water pumps, the rest depend on the weather. However, with drought-resistant hybrid corn varieties such as P4199, NK 4300 have affirmed their superiority, can generate income of 100 million - 120 million/ha/year.

Mr. Ta Dinh Tro - Agronomy Manager of TH Dairy Food Company said: In the spring-summer crop, TH Dairy Food Company planted 400 hectares of corn varieties NK 7328, B265, T 4311, CP111. Planting costs are lower than some other crops, 1 hectare is about 400kg NPK, 200kg URE. For the varieties used by the company, it can be planted at a density of about 75 thousand plants/ha, yielding 40 tons/ha (dryness 33%).
