The National Assembly Standing Committee highly appreciated the seafood exploitation profession in Quynh Long.

(Baonghean.vn) - Working with Quynh Long commune (Quynh Luu), the working delegation of the National Assembly Standing Committee highly appreciated the effectiveness of local seafood exploitation and fishing.

The report of the People's Committee of Quynh Long commune said that in the past 2 years, the locality has focused on propaganda work for fishermen in all forms, so that fishermen can access full and timely information on policies, regulations and laws on "national sea and islands", search and rescue work, fire prevention and fighting to ensure safety when participating in production and journeys at sea.

Up to now, Quynh Long has 98% of offshore fishing vessels using communication devices and fish finders; 278 fishermen have been trained as captains and chief engineers; 165 people have been trained in first aid skills and emergency rescue for victims at sea.

Implementing Decision No. 87/2014 of the Provincial People's Committee, there have been 9 sets of documents for ship owners to build new ships according to the province's support policy, with a total requested support amount of more than 2.5 billion VND, of which 1 billion VND has been supported so far.

The whole commune has 18 newly registered ships under the support policy of Decree 67/CP, and up to now, 8 newly built ships have been put into operation.

Up to now, Quynh Long has had 170 fishing boats, of which 110 are over 90 CV boats, the total number of seafood fishing workers ranges from 1,800 to 2,000 people. Every year, Quynh Long exploits over 30,000 tons of seafood, reaching a value of over 369 billion VND. The annual output of processed seafood of all kinds: 670 tons of steamed and dried fish, reaching 70% of the plan, 46 tons of frozen squid, reaching 115% of the plan, 325 tons of processed dried squid, reaching 112% of the plan, 355 tons of frozen fish, reaching 120% of the plan.

At the meeting, the locality raised a number of difficulties: In addition to the unusual climate, the berth for boats is narrow, not meeting the demand for the number of boats; the demand for loans has not met the development speed of the seafood exploitation industry; the disbursement of loans according to Decree 67/CP and Decision 87 of the Provincial People's Committee on supporting the fisheries industry is still slow.

At the meeting, comrade Nguyen Minh Son - Deputy Chairman of the National Assembly's Economic Committee highly appreciated the increasingly high-capacity fleet of Quynh Long commune, especially the high results in output and economic value from seafood exploitation for the locality.
