V.League 2019 promises to be exciting thanks to VAR technology and an increase in the number of foreign players.
(Baonghean.vn) - On February 2nd, 2019, after being approved by the Vietnam Football Federation, the V.League 2019 Organizing Committee (VPF) issued the Regulations for the 2019 National Championship. Vietnam's top football league will officially kick off on February 3rd.
The number of foreign players has increased.
Accordingly, each team can register a maximum of 30 players, including a minimum of 20 players with professional contracts, a maximum of 3 foreign players, and a maximum of 1 Vietnamese player of foreign origin (naturalized player).
Hanoi FC and Binh Duong FC, as teams participating in continental competitions (AFC), are allowed to register a maximum of 4 foreign players, including at least 1 Asian player (including Australians). The deadline for registration is February 8th, and the deadline for adding foreign players is March 4th, 2019.

The winning team receives a prize of 3 billion VND.
According to the regulations, the winning team will receive the Championship Cup and 3 billion VND, the runner-up will receive 1.5 billion VND, and the third-place team will receive 750 million VND. In addition, the team that wins the Fair Play award will receive 200 million VND. Supporters' clubs with the most active participation will receive 20 million VND.
VAR (video assistant referee technology) will be implemented.
The company assisting VPF in introducing VAR technology is EVS, a company specializing in VAR system installation, headquartered in Belgium with offices in many countries around the world. EVS was the partner that deployed VAR technology at the 2018 World Cup in Russia. In addition, EVS has implemented VAR in many leagues worldwide. In Southeast Asia, EVS is currently deploying VAR for the Thai League and is expected to adopt VAR from the 2019 season.
Mr. Tran Anh Tu shared: "The purpose of VPF in bringing VAR to Vietnam is to support referees, gradually reduce controversial situations, bring accurate results to matches, and thereby improve the image and quality of Vietnam's highest-level club football league."
The Vietnam Professional Football Joint Stock Company (VPF) has also officially issued two options for the first leg of the 2019 National Championship schedule. VPF will announce the application of Option 1 or Option 2 depending on the results of Hanoi FC's play-off matches in the AFC Champions League on February 12th and 19th, 2019.

According to the updated results, the draw has pitted Song Lam Nghe An against Quang Nam in the opening match of the season at Vinh Stadium. This year, the matches and teams have been provided with new match balls supplied by Dong Luc.

The clubs participating in V.League 2 (First Division) include: Binh Dinh, Binh Phuoc, Hue Football, Dak Lak, Dong Thap, Hong Linh Ha Tinh (Hanoi B in the 2018 season), Long An, XM Fico Tay Ninh, XSKT Can Tho, along with newcomers An Giang, Pho Hien, and Phu Dong.
