V.League 2020, there are still clubs that like to use foreign coaches
(Baonghean.vn) - In the context of there being very few domestic coaches with enough credibility to lead the team, besides Ho Chi Minh City and HAGL, B.Binh Duong still tends to want to find a foreign coach for the upcoming season.
After the success of Mr. Park Hang-seo, a series of Korean coaches have landed in Vietnam, both at the U22 Vietnam team, the national team and the club level. During the past season, nearly a dozen Korean coaches came to practice in this S-shaped land.

Former Cambodian coach Lee Tae-hoon is the 4th coach in the last 5 seasons of HAGL after French coach Guillaume Graechen, coach Nguyen Quoc Tuan and his predecessor Duong Minh Ninh in the first 6 rounds of the season. Although he finished the season in 8th place, the best achievement of the generation of Tuan Anh, Xuan Truong, Van Toan, until now, whether Mr. Lee Tae-hoon's contract will be extended or not is still undecided.

Although Ho Chi Minh City Club was only the runner-up of V.League 2019, Mr. Chung Hae-seong was still voted the best coach of the season after defeating two other strong candidates, Chu Dinh Nghiem (Hanoi Club) and Phan Thanh Hung (Than Quang Ninh Club) in the recent vote.
The Korean strategist won an almost absolute number of votes in the election with the participation of the Executive Board of Vietnam Professional Football Joint Stock Company (VPF), the National Coaching Council and Club Coaches. The Board of Directors of Ho Chi Minh City Club also decided to retain Coach Chung Hae-seong with a 3-year contract.
The reason why coach Lee Tae-hoon’s ability to stay at HAGL is only 50/50 is because although the attack scored 45 goals, ranked 2nd (after Hanoi 60 goals), the defense also conceded 46 goals (only 52 goals more than Thanh Hoa). It is said that the HAGL leadership has sought a European coach to patch the “holes” and find good foreign players.
B. Binh Duong looks outward
Meanwhile, B.Binh Duong is still steadfast in its goal of using "homegrown talent" when it is successfully promoting young players to the first team so that the three veterans Anh Duc, Tan Tai, and Xuan Luan can be present in the three lines to guide the juniors.
The young players Tien Linh, Sy Giap, Thanh Thao, Ho Tan Tai, Anh Ty, Trung Tin have begun to mature, in which Tien Linh and Ho Tan Tai have soon appeared in the national team and U22 Vietnam. Tan Tai was also voted into the typical squad of V.League 2019 in the right-back position.
Even 19-year-old defender Thien Duc and 18-year-old striker Viet Cuong, when put to the test this season, have shown positive signs. Accordingly, B.Binh Duong will continue to put U21 players to compete in V.League 2020, requiring a coach with a lot of experience.
Coach Nguyen Thanh Son, after replacing Coach Tran Minh Chien, led the team to the 4th place in V.League and won the third prize in the National Cup. However, the B.Binh Duong leadership still did not feel secure and they decided to use the BTV Television Cup in December to select both the coach and foreign players. It has become a tradition that this is the tournament where Brazilian clubs "advertise" the V.League and many times the host B.Binh Duong has chosen the foreign players they like.
Having at least 3 clubs with foreign coaches in V.League 2020 will make this tournament more diverse and attractive. Especially Ho Chi Minh City and Chung Hae-seong have liquidated all 3 foreign players, determined to compete with Hanoi FC for the championship.
