150 km/h hoverboard glides over the Atlantic Ocean
The hoverboard designed by a French inventor can reach a height of over 3,000 m, nearly 7 times the height of the Empire State Building in the US.
Franky Zapata, inventor and CEO of Zapata Racing, soared above the sea off the coast of France on a Flyboard Air, the Telegraph reported yesterday. On his most recent flight, Zapata flew the board 50 metres above the Atlantic Ocean for nearly seven minutes.
Flyboard Air is a jet ski equipped with 4 turbo engines, which help to propel the ski into the air and forward when moving on the sea or land. The board balances itself in a similar way to a drone, can reach an altitude of up to 3,048 m and a speed of 150 km/h. This vehicle can fly continuously for about 10 minutes.
"This is truly a lifetime achievement. Who hasn't dreamed of jumping out of the water and soaring through the air, without any obstacles? This dream is the origin of the product we created," Zapata shared.
The previous Flyboard model used the propulsion of water to fly and could be used on lakes. "Since 2016, we have been making people's dreams come true by giving them the opportunity to move through the air on a fully autonomous hoverboard," Zapata said.
Flyboard Air users need to undergo 100 hours of practice on the water and 20 hours of learning how to control the vehicle on land. The board is designed as a means of short-distance transportation.
