Transporting 3 kg of crystal meth for hire, young man sentenced to death in 4th court appearance
(Baonghean.vn) - Agreeing to transport 3 kg of drugs for hire to get 30 million VND from an old acquaintance, a young man with 3 previous convictions received a death sentence in his 4th court appearance.
On the morning of February 27, Nghe An Provincial People's Court opened a first-instance criminal trial of Dao Vuong Khanh (31 years old), residing in Hamlet 5, Thinh Son Commune (Do Luong District) for the crime of "Illegal transportation of drugs".
According to the indictment, in 2013, Khanh went to work in Laos and met a man named Vu. Around the beginning of September 2019, Khanh met Vu at a coffee shop in Do Luong district. Vu discussed with Khanh about having drugs and when there were customers, he would hire Khanh to transport them. Dao Vuong Khanh agreed.

At around 6pm on September 5, Vu called Khanh and said: "At around midnight on September 7, I will go to the gate of Do Luong market, someone will bring 3 kilos of crystal meth, I will transport it to Dien Chau district, someone will contact me to pick it up, you will pay me 30 million VND". Khanh accepted.
As scheduled, Khanh went to the gate of Do Luong market to receive drugs and 30 million VND. After that, Khanh hired a taxi to take him to Dien Chau district. At about 2:30 a.m. on September 7, when the car carrying Khanh reached Dien Ngoc commune (Dien Chau district), the Nghe An Provincial Traffic Police stopped the car for inspection, discovered and seized 2,976.67 grams of drugs.
At the trial, the defendant admitted to the crime as charged in the indictment. The defendant stated that he transported drugs for hire because he was greedy for the 30 million VND. Khanh asked for a chance to live so he could return home to take care of his elderly mother and young children.
It is known that this is the fourth time the defendant has appeared in court. Previously, the defendant had been imprisoned three times for drug-related crimes and intentional damage to property…
For the act of transporting a large quantity of drugs, defendant Dao Vuong Khanh was sentenced to death by the court.
In this case, there was also Vu - the person who hired Khanh to transport drugs and the man who delivered drugs to the defendant. Because Khanh did not know the specific background of these two people, the police had no basis to verify and clarify in order to prosecute them criminally.
