The appointment of Ms. Tran Vu Quynh Anh received much attention from the press, who raised many questions at the Government press conference on the afternoon of April 3. |
Responding to this question, Deputy Minister of Home Affairs Tran Anh Tuan said: “Regarding the issues raised by the press and public opinion, the Prime Minister directed agencies and organizations to consider them objectively, fairly, and legally, and strictly handle violations.
The case involves Ms. Tran Vu Quynh Anh, during the time the Provincial Party Committee and the People's Committee of Thanh Hoa province inspected and examined the appointment and planning of leaders at this Department. The direction of the leaders of Thanh Hoa province to inspect and examine the personnel work in Thanh Hoa is in accordance with their duties and functions. According to the decentralization, the department level is under the authority of the Department's leadership. The province can assign the Provincial Inspectorate to coordinate with the Department of Home Affairs to conduct the inspection.
According to the provisions of the Law on Inspection, the Government Inspectorate or the Ministry of Home Affairs can re-inspect if the report sent back detects signs of violations during the inspection process under their authority.
“The inspection at the Department of Construction of Thanh Hoa province, directed by the provincial leaders, is in accordance with their duties and responsibilities. The Ministry of Home Affairs and the Government Inspectorate regularly follow up, in accordance with their responsibilities.
Regarding the question that Ms. Tran Vu Quynh Anh is no longer a civil servant, so her assets are not inspected, Deputy Inspector General of the Government Ngo Van Khanh said: "The journalist's question already contains the answer. At this point, the subject is no longer the subject of asset declaration."
However, according to Mr. Khanh, we understand that asset declaration is a measure to prevent corruption. This does not mean that if you are no longer a civil servant, there will be no investigation or inspection. “If there is a problem, the investigation of a citizen’s assets will still be carried out according to the provisions of the law. This adjustment is for an ordinary citizen. This does not mean that no asset declaration is made and that no agency will consider that person’s assets anymore,” Mr. Khanh said./.
