There is still a situation where cadres and party members organize ostentatious and formal weddings.

(Baonghean.vn) - On the afternoon of November 8, the Provincial Party Committee Standing Committee held a Conference to summarize 12 years of implementing Directive No. 19 - CT/TU dated February 18, 2004 of the Provincial Party Committee Standing Committee on implementing a cultural lifestyle in weddings for cadres, party members, workers and civil servants.

Comrades: Nguyen Xuan Son - Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Council; Le Minh Thong - Member of the Provincial Party Committee Standing Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; Ho Phuc Hop - Member of the Provincial Party Committee Standing Committee, Head of the Provincial Party Committee's Propaganda Department chaired the conference.

Attending the conference were members of the Provincial Party Standing Committee, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, representatives of leaders of departments, branches, districts, cities and towns in the province.

Comrade Nguyen Xuan Son - Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Council requested all levels, sectors and localities to build and perfect wedding models according to the new cultural lifestyle, popularize the models for everyone to know and implement.

After Directive 19 was issued, with the participation of Party committees, authorities and organizations at all levels, a widespread movement in organizing weddings in localities and units was created. Through specific regulations on how to organize weddings, along with the exemplary and pioneering role of cadres, party members, workers and civil servants in implementing the Directive, it created a ripple effect among the people, was welcomed and seriously implemented by all classes. Some models in weddings were implemented quite effectively by localities and units.

After 12 years of implementing Directive 19, the existing problems in weddings have been basically overcome, such as: eliminating backward customs (demanding dowry, kidnapping wives, forcing marriages...); shortening the wedding time, organizing weddings at one location; wedding ceremonies are more streamlined, gentle and civilized; the situation of using public funds as gifts and using public vehicles for weddings has been basically overcome; most localities have organized, built and implemented pilot models in weddings.

Implementing Directive 19, Party committees, authorities, agencies, departments and branches have organized and directed the construction of 86 wedding models following a cultural lifestyle; 52,725 weddings following a cultural lifestyle have been held in localities across the province.

Typical models that have been implemented are the "Frugal Wedding" model in Quy Hop and Anh Son districts, the Provincial Border Guard; the "New Lifestyle Wedding" model in Nghia Dan, Quynh Luu, Tan Ky districts, Vinh city; the "Sweet party combined with post-wedding announcement" model in Nghi Loc and Yen Thanh districts; the "Happy, civilized, economical" wedding model of the Youth Union...

Nghi Loc District Youth Union organized a cultural wedding for youth union members at the District People's Committee Hall.

However, besides the positive aspects, in recent years, the leadership and direction of weddings by Party committees and authorities at all levels has been irregular, so the movement of organizing weddings according to cultural lifestyles has stagnated; wedding models according to cultural lifestyles have largely not been maintained and replicated.

In some urban areas, the weddings of some officials and party members tend to be more and more ostentatious and formal, with some even holding "wedding announcement parties" causing public outrage; the situation of scattering coins on the street during the wedding procession still occurs, and violations of order and traffic corridors have become quite common.

Concluding the conference, comrade Nguyen Xuan Son commended the Party committees, authorities, departments and branches for seriously implementing Directive 19, creating a change in the awareness of cadres, party members, workers and civil servants, forming a cultural wedding movement, contributing to the building of cultural life at the grassroots level.

The Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee also pointed out the uncultured manifestations in current weddings, which are: weddings with too many invitations, with commercial signs; weddings with a mixture of old and new elements, hybrid; lavish meals lasting for days... The reason is due to lax management of the implementation of Directive 19; all levels and sectors have not continued to research and perfect the cultural wedding model for everyone to know and implement.

Comrade Nguyen Xuan Son and comrade Le Minh Thong awarded certificates of merit from the Provincial Party Standing Committee to 16 collectives with outstanding achievements in implementing Directive 19.

Comrade Nguyen Xuan Son requested: All levels, sectors and localities must continue to thoroughly grasp, disseminate and raise the sense of responsibility for cadres, party members, workers and civil servants on cultural weddings; strictly implement Decision 60 of the Provincial People's Committee promulgating regulations on implementing civilized lifestyles in weddings, funerals and festivals in Nghe An province; build cultural wedding models suitable for local customs and regional cultures; encourage agencies and units to organize mass weddings, tea and candy parties to announce good news to young people; weddings combined with activities of drinking water and remembering its source, for the environment, with high educational significance.

At the conference, the Provincial Party Standing Committee awarded certificates of merit to 16 collectives with outstanding achievements in implementing Directive 19.
