Nghe An diver breaks record at 2024 national swimming and diving championship
(Baonghean.vn) - At the National Swimming and Diving Championship recently held in Thua Thien Hue province, Nghe An diver Nguyen Trong Dung broke the national record in his specialty event of 400m fins.
The 2024 National Swimming and Diving Championships in 25m Pool will take place from March 28 to April 2, aiming to evaluate the training of athletes in localities and sectors. Thereby, there will be a direction to focus on investing and training national team athletes to participate in regional and international competitions. This is also an activity to celebrate the 78th anniversary of Vietnam Sports Day (March 27, 1946 - March 27, 2024).
The tournament attracted the participation of more than 233 athletes from 23 units nationwide such as: An Giang, Ben Tre, Can Tho, Da Nang, Dong Nai, Dong Thap, Hanoi, Hai Phong, Long An, Phu Tho, Army, Quang Binh, Quang Ninh, Thanh Hoa, Ho Chi Minh City, Vinh Long, Thua Thien Hue, Binh Thuan, Hai Duong, Nghe An, Thai Binh... The athletes competed for 71 sets of medals (diving 26 sets, swimming 45 sets).
Nghe An delegation participated in the tournament with 3 divers from Nghe An Sports Training and Competition Center. At the end of the tournament, Nghe An athletes won 1 Gold Medal, 3 Silver Medals and 2 Bronze Medals.
In which, athletesNguyen Trong Dungwon the Gold Medal and broke the national record in the 400m jet ski event with a time of 3 minutes 02 seconds 12 (old record was 3 minutes 05 seconds 08).
Nguyen Trong Dung also won 1 Silver Medal in the 200m propeller jet event and 1 Bronze Medal in the 1,500m propeller jet event.
The two remaining athletes are Ho Quoc Khanh - won 2 Silver Medals in the 800m, 1,500m jet and Nguyen Tu Anh - won 2 Bronze Medals in the 400m, 800m jet./.
