The national grid power supply project for Lai Son island has a total length of nearly 44 km, including 24.5 km of offshore power lines. Overcoming many difficulties due to bad weather at sea, the construction units have built 48 offshore power poles with a depth of over 11 meters and 2 poles touching the shore. This is the longest 110 kV offshore power line in Vietnam to date. After this project, the electricity industry continued to build power lines from Lai Son to other island communes of Kien Hai district, namely An Son and Nam Du.
Up to now, people on Lai Son island have had to use diesel generators, which are of unstable quality and only provide electricity for 15 hours a day. With the national grid, people in the commune have the conditions to develop fishing, fishing logistics services, fish sauce making, shipbuilding and tourism. Today is the first day that nearly 10,000 people on Lai Son island will have electricity around the clock.

Ms. Bui Kim Y, a resident of Bai Nha A hamlet, excitedly said: "Tonight is the first night with national grid electricity, the electricity is on all night long, we can use it comfortably. There is no power outage in the middle of the night and we don't have to listen to the sound of machines running anymore. Thank you very much to the State and the electricity industry. Having continuous electricity is very good for students to study. My family also bought some more household items such as a refrigerator, washing machine, and air conditioner./.
