(Baonghean.vn) - On the afternoon of January 11, comrade Ho Duc Phoc - Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Council had a working session with cadres, lecturers and staff of Nghe An College of Culture and Arts.

Attending the meeting were leaders of provincial departments and branches, leaders of Vinh City and a large number of officers, lecturers and staff of the school.

Comrade Ho Duc Phoc - Provincial Party Secretary, Chairman of the Provincial People's Council chaired the meeting.

Nghe An College of Culture and Arts was established under Decision No. 126/QD-UB dated June 1, 1967 of the Provincial People's Committee. Currently, the school has 4 faculties, 82 staff, lecturers, employees, 1,554 students, the rate of graduates having suitable jobs is 80%.

As a local cultural and artistic school, the school always teaches students to understand and be proud of the cultural identity of Nghe An. At the same time, the school is also the place to preserve, exploit and promote the best indigenous cultural heritage, from folk songs, folk music, folk dance; architecture, folk art; to customs, habits, customary laws, and festivals of the ethnic groups in the residential area.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Phan Mau Canh - Principal of the school presented a report on the results of the school year's tasks and the direction of development of the school.

Over the years, generations of teachers and students of Nghe An College of Culture and Arts have been awarded many noble titles and prizes by the President, the Government, the Ministry of Education and Training, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the Central Committee of the Vietnam Labor Union, the Provincial People's Committee, etc.

The goal of building and developing the school by 2020 is to standardize and improve the quality of staff and training quality; build synchronous facilities, upgrade to a University to become one of the training and research centers, providing high-quality cultural, sports and tourism human resources of the province and the North Central region.

At the meeting, Associate Professor, Dr. Phan Mau Canh - Principal of the school proposed that the provincial leaders continue to affirm the policies, plans and solutions for the school's development in the coming time, allowing the school to submit the Project to establish Vinh University of Culture, Arts and Tourism, directing the allocation of funds for the construction of the school upgrading project, compensation for site clearance and construction of some necessary items, increasing the training budget for the culture and arts sector compared to the current level, increasing the staff quota, attracting artists and highly qualified staff to work at the school...

Deputy Director of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism Pham Tien Dung said that the school needs to focus on improving the quality of its teaching staff.

The leaders of the Department of Education and Training highly appreciated the efforts of teachers and students of the College of Culture and Arts in recent times.

Leaders of provincial departments and branches and Vinh city leaders answered some of the school's recommendations and gave their opinions to help the school soon meet all conditions and standards on quality and professional qualifications, gradually modernize, and implement the project to upgrade to a university.

Concluding the meeting, comrade Ho Duc Phoc emphasized that culture is the source of life, of longevity, the foundation and driving force for development. Therefore, he requested that in the coming time, Nghe An College of Culture and Arts should continue to be a place to preserve, nurture and promote the cultural and artistic talents of Nghe An.

The Provincial Party Secretary also requested that the school pay attention to improving the quality of training, gradually improving facilities, creating the school's brand, carefully preparing and quickly completing the project dossier to establish a university, and at the same time needing to grasp the vocational needs of society to restructure the training professions in a reasonable manner.
