Hanoi FC was eliminated from the group stage of the 2017 AFC Cup, but Van Quyet and Hung Dung still made a strong impression on foreign media. These two players were included in the AFC Cup ASEAN Group Stage Team of the Week, as selected by Fox Sport Asia.

These two players contributed 9 goals for Hanoi FC in the 2017 AFC Cup group stage: 5 for Van Quyet and 4 for Hung Dung. Similar to Hung Dung, Van Quyet also scored a spectacular goal in the group stage with a bicycle kick to equalize 1-1 against Ceres Negros in the first round.

Hanoi FC finished their 6 matches in Group G of the 2017 AFC Cup with 11 points but ranked second due to an inferior goal difference compared to Ceres Negros (Philippines). The Vietnamese representative sadly exited the tournament as they were unable to become the second-best performing team in the East Asian region.
