Thailand practices to compete with Vietnam team
Thailand does not want to continue to be far behind Vietnam in the FIFA rankings, as well as in international achievements. That is the reason why the Football Association of Thailand (FAT) is considering sending the strongest possible squad to the AFF Cup 2020, as well as arranging the most suitable Thai League schedule, supporting head coach Akira Nishino.
According to the plan, the Thai League can only return in September, after being stopped from round 4 due to Covid-19. This makes it difficult for coach Akira Nishino to prepare for the AFF Cup 2020, as well as the next matches in phase 2, the 2022 World Cup qualifiers.

Coach Akira Nishino wants to focus on Thailand for 1 month. |
To overcome the difficulties, coach Akira Nishino wants to gather the Thai players for about a month, if FIFA allows the teams to compete again.FAT Acting Secretary General, Parit Suphaphong, confirmed this to Siam Sport.
"Nishino told me that once FIFA approves the return of international football, he will call up the Thai national team in a month. This is normal, because the World Cup qualifiers are very important. Everything now depends on FIFA. They have not yet decided whether international matches will be played again this year or not."Thailand is currently ranked 3rd in Group G of the 2022 World Cup qualifiers, with 8 points, 3 points less than the top team Vietnam. To shorten the gap with Vietnam on the FIFA rankings, Thailand must have the best results in the 2020 AFF Cup, as well as achieve positive results in the 2022 World Cup qualifiers.

"We want teams to play home and away as normal but the police are concerned about public health," Premier League chief executive Richard Masters told Sky Sports on May 29. "Details on how many neutral venues will be played will be released in the next 7-10 days, but we hope that the number will be low. We will do everything we can to make the Cup ceremony a solemn one. It will be a memorable moment and bring memories to the fans."
The two make-up matches between Aston Villa and Sheffield United and Man City and Arsenal, on Wednesday (June 17), will mark the return of the 2019-2020 Premier League season. Liverpool are almost certain to win the championship this season, as they are 25 points ahead of second-placed Man City with 9 rounds left.
