Domestic gold prices fell to 35.55 million VND/ounce late this morning. World gold prices also declined to 1,304 USD/ounce.

By the end of this morning's trading session, the price of gold in Vietnam had decreased by 250,000 VND/ounce compared to the beginning of the day, reaching 36.55 million VND/ounce.

Specifically, in Ho Chi Minh City, Saigon Jewelry Company reduced the buying and selling price of gold to 36.25 - 36.55 million VND/ounce. In Hanoi, DOJI Group listed the buying and selling price of gold at 36.25 - 36.45 million VND/ounce.

The difference between the buying and selling price of gold in Hanoi is currently 300,000 VND/ounce. In Ho Chi Minh City, this has narrowed to 200,000 VND/ounce.

World gold prices this morning (Vietnam time) continued to fall slightly by more than $3 to $1,304/oz, equivalent to VND 33.12 million/ounce, which is VND 3.43 million/ounce lower than domestic gold prices.

This morning (May 15th), at the opening of trading, the price of domestic SJC gold increased by 350,000 VND/ounce compared to the closing price on May 14th.

Specifically, according to the listing of Saigon Jewelry Company, the buying and selling price of gold is currently at 36.50 - 36.80 million VND/ounce. DOJI Group lists the gold price at 36.25 million VND/ounce (buying price). The selling price is 36.65 million VND/ounce.

The difference between the buying and selling price of gold in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City is increasing significantly. The difference in Hanoi is 300,000 VND/ounce, while in Ho Chi Minh City it is 400,000 VND/ounce.

On the global market, at the close of trading on May 14th, the spot gold price on Kitco rose to $1,305/oz. The June gold futures contract increased by 0.85% to $1,305/oz, the highest increase since the beginning of May.

Analysts believe that the rise in gold prices is partly due to lower US government bond yields following news that the European Central Bank (ECB) may cut interest rates in the near future.

The market continues to monitor tensions between Russia and Western countries over Ukraine. Gold is currently one of the safe-haven assets as tensions continue to escalate.

Currently, the world gold price is at $1,307/oz, equivalent to VND 33.20 million/ounce, which is VND 3.6 million/ounce lower than the domestic gold price.
