Stealing a motorbike in Da Nang and bringing it back to his hometown to use

(Baonghean.vn) - While visiting a neighbor, Thong went into the buffalo pen to steal a dress. Later, when he went to Da Nang to work, Thong and Chinh stole a motorbike and brought it back to their hometown to use for transportation.

On December 28, Tan Ky District People's Court opened a first-instance criminal trial against defendants Nguyen Huu Thong (born in 1994, in Hoa Mu hamlet, Nghia Phuc commune, Tan Ky) and Dinh Xuan Chinh (born in 1997, residing in Buc hamlet, Dong Van commune, Tan Ky) for the crime of "Theft of property".

According to the indictment, at around 8:00 p.m. on May 29, Thong took his father's motorbike to Nguyen Thien Canh's house (living in the same commune). Seeing that no one was home, Thong jumped into the buffalo pen and stole a Suka mini rammer used for compacting concrete.

On June 4, Thong sold the stolen dress to Lang Van Anh (living in the same commune) for 200,000 VND for personal use. The council valued the dress at 325,000 VND.

After that, Thong went to Da Nang city to work for hire. At around 12 o'clock on August 29, Thong and Chinh discussed stealing a motorbike. While on guard, Thong used a clamp to break the lock of the Exiter motorbike with license plate 92N1-088.99 of Nguyen Tran Dat (residing in block 2, Nui Thanh town, Nui Thanh district, Quang Nam) while it was parked near the construction site.

Thong drove the car back to his rented room, removed the license plate, then drove Truong Van Anh (living in the same Nghia Phuc commune) from Da Nang to Tan Ky district. Thong used the car as a means of transportation until September 15 when he was arrested by Tan Ky district police.

The council valued the car at 19,900,000 VND. The dress and motorbike were then recovered and returned to the owner.

At the investigation agency, Thong and Chinh confessed to all their crimes in accordance with the documents and evidence collected.

Previously, on August 23, 2016, Thong was administratively fined 1 million VND by Nghia Phuc Commune Police for property theft.

At the end of the trial, the panel sentenced Nguyen Huu Thong to 18 months in prison and Dinh Xuan Chinh to 9 months in prison, suspended for 18 months of probation.
