Arrested 54 gamblers gambling in a 'huge' cockfighting ring

(Baonghean.vn) - More than fifty gamblers were engrossed in gambling at a cockfighting ring in a farm behind high walls when they were suddenly caught by the police.

54 gamblers were arrested.

After investigation and ambush, at 1:50 p.m. on November 26, at a chicken farm in Hamlet 21, Nghi Phong Commune (Nghi Loc) owned by Mr. Nguyen Phuc Thang (born in 1969), residing in Van Tien Block, Hung Dung Ward, Vinh City, Nghi Loc District Police successfully broke up Project 116B, arresting 54 subjects gambling in the form of cockfighting.

Previously, in early November 2016, Nghi Loc District Police received information from the public that Mr. Nguyen Phuc Thang's chicken farm was often visited by many people.

Verifying the information and using professional measures, the investigation agency found that the subjects came here to gamble in the form of cockfighting. In November 2016, to destroy the gambling den, Nghi Loc Police established Project 116B to fight.

After investigation and ambush, on November 26, Nghi Loc District Police decided to break the case. At 1:50 p.m., under the direction of Major Nguyen Trong Tue - Head of Nghi Loc District Police, 70 officers and soldiers of Nghi Loc Police's professional teams, along with 25 police officers from the provincial police, suddenly raided the closed farm of Mr. Nguyen Phuc Thang.

The number of fighting cocks used for gambling was seized.

Here, 54 people participating in the cockfighting ring were arrested by the authorities. Initially, the investigation agency seized 230 million VND, 9 motorbikes, 7 cars and 25 fighting cocks.

The case is under investigation and expansion.
