With a more balanced squad and higher spirit, Japan completely dominated the game against China. But it was not until the explosion of veteran Sawa in the beginning of the second half that the world champion broke the balance of the match. Starting from a corner kick in the 51st minute, the best player of the world in 2011 Sawa skillfully flew to head the ball, opening the score for Japan.

Although not playing very well, China was lucky to equalize in the 80th minute. In a situation where they were awarded a penalty after a Japanese defender handled the ball in the penalty area, Zeng Ying scored the goal, bringing the match into 2 extra periods.

The 30 minutes of extra time also tilted in favor of the defending world champions. And it seemed like the match would have to go into a penalty shootout, but in a corner kick in the 120th minute, Azusa had an accurate header to score the goal to make it 2-1, thereby helping Japan to play in the final match.

This is a well-deserved victory for Japan. The opponent of the Japanese women's team will be the winner of the match between Australia and South Korea when the two teams meet at 8:45 pm tonight, May 22.
