AFC U23 Championship 2018: Quang Hai tested for doping

The 1-0 victory of U23 Vietnam over U23 Australia on the evening of 1-0 is the biggest surprise at the 2018 AFC U23 Championship, up to now. Immediately after the match, the Organizing Committee requested 2 U23 Vietnam players to undergo doping tests. They are goalkeeper Van Hoang and fullback Xuan Manh.

Both players did not play in the match against U23 Australia, and only played as substitutes for the U23 Vietnam team. However, according to research, doping tests are an AFC regulation for all teams participating in the tournament.

According to a member of the Vietnam U23 team, the testing was conducted randomly. That's why the AFC tested exactly 2 reserve players in the Vietnam U23 team.

In this way, not only Van Hoang and Xuan Manh have to undergo doping tests. Before that, two other players of U23 Vietnam, Thai Quy and Quang Hai, also had to undergo testing.

Quang Hai was the one who scored against U23 Australia in the match on the evening of January 14. "This is just a normal activity of the Organizing Committee, ensuring that the teams comply with the rules" - a member of U23 Vietnam said.

According to the plan, at 8:30 pm tonight, U23 Vietnam will have a training session in Changshu (Jiangsu). Coach Park Hang Seo still maintains confidentiality requirements for the team. Therefore, the training session will be held in private, the press will only be allowed to work in the first 15 minutes, when the team warms up.

The match against U23 Syria will take place at 6:30 p.m. on January 17 at Changshu Stadium. After two matches, South Korea (4 points) is leading the rankings. The next two positions belong to U23 Vietnam and Australia, both with 3 points. Syria is currently at the bottom of the table with 1 point.

However, the opportunity to win tickets is still open for all 4 teams. If they defeat Syria, Coach Park Hang Seo and his team will win tickets regardless of the result of the remaining match between U23 Korea and U23 Australia.
