Athlete Nguyen Huu Kim Son took on the role of a model for the first time at a fashion event in Ho Chi Minh City. Along with the wave of criticism from netizens, swimmer Nguyen Huu Kim Son also spoke out to "insult" Y Nhi's statement: "I'm the same age as you, your Wikipedia page was just created 7 hours ago but my Wikipedia page has been around since I was 15 years old. While you were competing in beauty pageants and "growing up", I represented Vietnam in international competitions".
However, after the milk tea catwalk, many negative comments were continuously directed at the male athlete. Many viewers thought that Kim Son deliberately sought attention to become famous and criticized him for his "competitive" behavior towards women.
Recently, Kim Son spoke up to explain the reason for bringing milk tea to the catwalk. On his personal page, the male athlete shared: "What Son wears and what props he brings on stage is not up to Son to decide, but according to the concept of the collection as well as the intention of the program director. Everyone can also see that in this collection, not only Son but also other models bring props that match the outfit such as ice cream sticks, donuts, books, candy, water guns or even pillows...
As a young person trying his hand at the catwalk for the first time, Son always tries his best to do his job, expressing the spirit of the costume as well as the performance concept. I hope everyone will convey the correct information. There is no way that the organizers would give me water, but Son refused and brought milk tea on stage himself," Kim Son shared.
In the face of controversy, the media representative of the fashion show also spoke up to explain. The Organizing Committee said that Kim Son only performed in accordance with the spirit of the collection, which is to catwalk like walking on a train and enjoying a glass of his favorite drink.

Nguyen Huu Kim Son was born in 2002 in Ho Chi Minh City, and is an athlete on the Vietnam national swimming team. He is the first male swimmer to win a Gold Medal for the Vietnamese Sports Delegation at the age of 15 at the 29th SEA Games (in Malaysia) in the men's 400m individual medley event.
