Vietnamese athlete wins gold medal at Asian Grand Prix 2017
The athlete from Thanh Hoa won the 400m event with a time of 47.13 seconds in the second leg of the 2017 Asian Grand Prix in China.
Quach Cong Lich was the only athlete to win a gold medal for Vietnam in the second leg of the 2017 Asian Grand Prix in China on the evening of April 27. The athlete from Thanh Hoa finished first in the 400m event after 47 seconds 13. Second was Karam Youself of Kuwait with 47 seconds 55.
Quach Cong Lich said he was very happy to win the gold medal and repay his debt to Karam Youself. Previously in the first stage, he finished behind the Kuwaiti athlete, finishing just 0.2 seconds behind his opponent.

The joy for Quach Cong Lich was not complete when his younger sister Quach Thi Lan missed out on the gold medal in the women's 400m event. The athlete who was heavily invested in for the 2017 SEA Games and 2018 ASIAD finished in 53.85 seconds. The winner was Mikhina Elina with a time of 52.79 seconds.
Previously in stage one, Quach Thi Lan only took 52 seconds and 72 seconds to complete the competition, surpassing Mikhina Elina to win the gold medal.
In the second leg of the 2017 Asian Grand Prix, Vietnam also had two athletes win bronze medals: Le Tu Chinh (women's 100m) and Duong Thi Viet Anh (high jump). With a total of four medals, Vietnam's athletics ranked fifth out of 14 countries and territories participating in the tournament.
