The Government leader asked the Ministry of Finance to "continue to listen to further" comments related to the property tax proposal.

On the morning of April 17, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc and Chairman of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Tran Thanh Man co-chaired an annual meeting to evaluate the results of coordination work in 2017 and set orientations for the coming time.

The Government leader expressed his impression of the policy dialogues that were held to receive information from people and businesses and propose necessary solutions. According to the Prime Minister, a Government for the people must know how to organize and listen to the voices of the people and organizations. "Otherwise, if we make our own decisions, close ourselves off, act subjectively, and act willfully, we will be far from the people, lose the people's trust, and the consequences will be very serious for the country and society," he said.

The Prime Minister also emphasized that government agencies always invite representatives of the Vietnam Fatherland Front to participate in drafting committees and editorial teams to listen to opinions in the development of draft laws and decrees. Citing the proposal for property tax that the Ministry of Finance is currently soliciting opinions on, he stated that this is not the final conclusion and the Ministry will continue to listen.

On the same morning, speaking at the discussion session of the National Assembly Standing Committee on preparations for the 5th session of the National Assembly (scheduled to open on May 21),Chairman of the Finance and Budget Committee Nguyen Duc Hai said the press had asked him about property tax but the Committee had not received any information.

"This is new at the Ministry of Finance, cThe agency that decides on the law and amends the law has no information, has not assessed it, and has not accessed it. In this situation, leaving it to public opinion is not good. Therefore, propaganda work needs attention," said Mr. Hai.

Chairwoman of the Judiciary Committee Le Thi Nga said thatThe information about the proposed property tax that caused a strong public reaction was "due to the explanation and interpretation".Therefore, Ms. Nga suggested that the National Assembly Office coordinate with the Government Office to proactively provide multi-dimensional information.

"The government must focus on providing good policy information to avoid unclear and insufficient information that does not provide comprehensive public access," Ms. Nga emphasized.

National Assembly Chairwoman Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan also agreed with the request that agencies proactively inform the press. According to her, the proposal on property tax is only a matter for comments and has not been "finalized", the National Assembly is the agency with the right to decide.
