(Baonghean.vn) - Just a few years ago, when people talked about the "drug capital" or the "village without husbands," they would immediately think of Xop Mat - a mountainous village in Luong Minh commune (Tuong Duong district). Of the 37 households in the village, more than 30 families had members imprisoned due to drug-related crimes, and dozens were drug addicts. In 2011 and 2012, Xop Mat village suffered serious landslides, forcing residents to relocate. With support from the central government and local authorities, after two years of planning and leveling the resettlement area, 44 households from Xop Mat village have now moved to their new homes. The resettlement area is located in La village (Luong Minh district). Life in the new location is still difficult, but it is basically stable. Xốp Mạt has reduced the number of drug addicts and drug-related crimes, and people can now focus on work and production with peace of mind.
