The world has seen a dramatic rise in supercarriers in recent years, with countries like India and Spain retiring their carriers, while China commissioned its first, and Britain rejoined the carrier owners club.

Business Insider news agency lists a total of 20 aircraft carriers that can carry and launch fixed-wing aircraft currently in operation worldwide.
